Two creative, active, and service accomplishments.

01

C1: Cook out + Bake in

Hosting a cookout and teaching my friends how to cook steak was a fun and rewarding experience that taught me the importance of patience, communication, and creativity.  As someone who loves cooking, I was excited to share my passion with my friends. However, I quickly realized that teaching others how to cook is not always easy.

Everyone had different levels of experience and different ideas about what makes a great steak.  I had to be patient and understanding, listening to their questions and concerns and providing clear instructions. I also had to be creative, finding ways to adapt to different cooking styles and preferences.  Despite the challenges, teaching my friends how to cook steak was a rewarding experience. It was amazing to see their confidence grow as they grilled their own steaks and shared their own unique seasoning ideas.  More than just learning how to cook steak, we also learned about the importance of working together and communicating. We had to coordinate who was cooking what and when, and we had to work together to prepare side dishes and set the table.  One of the most enjoyable aspects of hosting the cookout and teaching my friends how to cook steak was seeing the pride and excitement on their faces as they successfully cooked their own steaks. It was a moment of shared accomplishment and a reminder of the power of cooking to bring people together.  Additionally, the experience taught me about the importance of preparation and organization. Before the cookout, I had to plan the menu, purchase the ingredients, and ensure that we had all the necessary equipment. During the cookout, I had to stay organized, keeping track of cooking times and ensuring that each steak was cooked to perfection.  Overall, hosting a cookout and teaching my friends how to cook steak was a fun and rewarding experience that taught me valuable skills and reminded me of the joy that comes from sharing food and experiences with others. I look forward to the next opportunity to share my passion for cooking with those around me.

A1: Cycling

Bicycling 15 miles was an incredible experience that challenged me both physically and mentally. As someone who enjoys outdoor activities, I was excited to take on the challenge of cycling such a long distance.

At first, I felt a bit intimidated by the distance, but as I started pedaling, I quickly got into the groove of things. The cool breeze on my face and the sound of the wheels spinning on the pavement were both exhilarating and soothing. As I cycled further, I became increasingly aware of my surroundings. I passed by lush green forests, meandering rivers, and fields of wildflowers. The scenery was breathtaking and added to the already enjoyable experience.  However, as I approached the halfway point, I started to feel the strain on my body. My legs began to ache, and my breathing became labored. But, with a combination of determination and the thought of the beautiful scenery ahead, I kept on pedaling.  Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I arrived at my destination. I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment and satisfaction as I dismounted my bike. My muscles were sore, but my mind felt refreshed, energized, and rejuvenated.  Looking back on the experience, I realized that it was not just the physical challenge that made it so rewarding. Participating in a three-day tournament that included soccer and volleyball was an incredible experience that left me feeling energized, inspired, and fulfilled. Although I didn't participate in the basketball tournament, I still had a lot of fun cheering on my teammates and friends.

Throughout the three days, I was able to witness firsthand the dedication, hard work, and camaraderie that went into preparing for and participating in such a challenging and rigorous event. Watching my friends and teammates give it their all on the court and the field was both inspiring and motivating.  As someone who loves sports, being a part of the tournament was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about different sports and to witness firsthand the athleticism, skill, and teamwork that go into each game. I was impressed by the speed and agility of the soccer players and the coordination and strategy of the volleyball teams.  Beyond the physical aspect of the tournament, the event also provided me with the opportunity to connect with others who share my passion for sports. Meeting new people and making new friends from different teams and schools was a highlight of the experience and reminded me of the power of sports to bring people together. The volleyball portion of the three-day tournament was my favorite, as I have a passion for the sport and had been eagerly looking forward to playing with my team. As we warmed up before our first game, I could feel my nerves start to kick in, but I tried to focus on my breathing and remind myself of the skills and techniques that I had been practicing for weeks.  As the game began, I quickly got into the rhythm of things. Our team communicated well and worked together seamlessly, and I was impressed by the level of skill and determination displayed by our opponents. The game was intense, but it was also a lot of fun, and I felt proud of myself and my teammates for giving it our all.  As the tournament progressed, we faced a variety of opponents, each with its own unique strengths and weaknesses. Some games were easier than others, but each one presented a new challenge and an opportunity to learn and grow. Even when we faced defeat, we tried to focus on the positive and use the experience as a way to improve our skills and teamwork.

S1: Mangrove Planting

Traveling to Samut Songkhram for an overnight trip was an incredible experience that allowed me to connect with nature and to learn more about the importance of preserving the environment. One of the highlights of the trip was traveling by boat from our camp to a nearby mangrove forest to plant trees and help restore the ecosystem.

As we boarded the boat, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. The sun was just beginning to rise, and the river was calm and still. As we made our way down the river, I was struck by the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding landscape. The water was teeming with life, from schools of fish to flocks of birds, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural wonders up close.  When we arrived at the mangrove forest, we were greeted by a group of local volunteers who showed us how to plant the trees and explained the importance of restoring the ecosystem. It was hard work, but it was also incredibly rewarding to know that we were making a positive impact on the environment and helping to preserve the natural beauty of the area.  As we planted the trees and worked together as a team, I was struck by the power of collaboration and the importance of working together to achieve a common goal. S2: Mercy Center

Volunteering at Mercy Center was an incredibly rewarding experience that allowed me to connect with the local community and to make a positive impact on the lives of Thai children.

One of the activities that we did during our time at the center was helping the kids color and read English books, which was both fun and educational.  As I sat down with the children and watched them excitedly choose their coloring sheets, I was struck by their enthusiasm and energy. Despite the slight language barrier, we were able to communicate through smiles, gestures, and simple words, and it was heartwarming to see their faces light up as we worked together on the activity.  As we colored together, I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and happiness. The simple act of coloring and spending time with the children was so meaningful, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to be a positive influence in their lives.  Later on, as we read English books together, I was impressed by the children's curiosity and eagerness to learn.
